lmd tile install
my office hall
I spent the better part of last year designing and building my new office/studio space above what I like to refer to as our “carriage house,” but technically, it’s a garage. Now we’ve done multiple renovations and additions on our home, but because this was “my” space, I really got to have fun with finishes- and didn’t have to worry as much about what other peoples opinions. Now, as is typical in our relationship, I ALWAYS asked my husband his opinion, whether I took his thoughts into consideration when making the final call.. it’s hard to say.
I’ll post bits and pieces of my office in the future, but hands down my favorite detail is the tile floor in the office hall. Totally inspired by this image of a Holland Park kitchen by Scott Maddux in the September 2016 edition of Elle Decor, I carried the article around for weeks, trying to find the perfect solution.
I really wanted something unique for this space so I opted to test the ability of my installer by purchasing 36” square, concrete-like tiles from Tile Bar.
I worked to create a design that was fluid and balanced and my installer got to work- painfully cutting each tile in half, diagonally.
Below is an image of the design I came up with.
Let’s just say he was happy when the project was over..
A progress shot and an after shot from the stairs.
