I meant to get this post up ages ago, but.. life. So even though we're just about a quarter of the way through 2018 (where has the time gone?!), this is what I think we'll be seeing lots of in 2018!
While I may read up on trends, just like everyone else, I tend to also make my own “predictions” based on what I’ve seen- and what materials are new (or coming back) to the market. So here’s my list for kitchen trends in 2018.
Many decorators, like myself, have always looked to the UK and other european influences for inspiration. They’re no fuss, incredibly practical approach is perfectly inline with the way interiors are going these days- streamline, basic and totally functional.
Mix of Wood Tones
Painted kitchens are classic, so they’ll never truly be pushed aside, but I’m feeling stained cabinetry these days. The light oak tones will definitely be making a huge comeback this year.
Statement Lighting - goodbye pendants!
I have long loved placing a chandelier or a fabulous fixture over an island instead of the predictable pendant. So many of us use our islands for everyday dining, so why not dress them up?
Last year we saw a ton of contrast cabinetry- with lighter colors on top and darker tones on the bottom, but this year, contrast is coming in banks of cabinetry, helping to define space and function.
