New Obsession.. Curved Sofas
Every so often a trend starts popping up without any warning, and these days, all I see, are curved sofas. Something that felt so old (and a little too retro) is actually new again- and when paired with some seriously bold, poppy colors, it can really make a statement in a room. We used this neutral version a few years back in a client’s living room. While the fabric is very tonal, we added pops of color in pillows and other accent pieces.
Not surprisingly, some catalogs have started embracing this trend. Wisteria’s Velvet Settee is perhaps the best curved option at the moment, because of it’s simple lines and the incredible color options. I would definitely have a hard time picking out just one.
CB2 offers a reasonably priced contemporary version with a touch of glamour. Only available in neutral tones, the brass base certainly gives it a little more interest.
And finally our curved sofa obsession, the Designers Guild Smooth Sofa..
Not exactly “catalog” but our absolute favorite at the moment. The simple lines add a little mid-century flair without feeling overly so. I’m sad to say this sofa isn’t available stateside yet. And while my fingers are crossed we'll see it on this side of the pond soon, I've already confirmed my furniture maker can create his own version for my living room. Good thing, because I'm not really known for my patience when it comes to furnishings..
